
The mojito is a Cuban drink imparting a sweet citrus flavor with a minty zing, and great for cooling off in the Summer. Here are a few twists on the traditional mojito recipe. Try making these colorful mojitos for a splash of refreshing fun.
How to Make a Blue Mojito
Blue Mojito Ingredients
- About 20 fresh spearmint or peppermint leaves
- 1/4 tsp of raw sugar
- 1/2 of a lime, squeezed
- Crushed ice
- Ginger ale or club soda
- 1 ounce of white rum
- 1/2 ounce of blue curacao – to make your drink turn blue
- Garnish: a few mint leaves, a slice or wedge of lime, and a handful of blue berries.
First, muddle the mint leaves and sugar together. Muddling is like mashing. Put into a tall cup. Then, squeeze the lime on top. Next, fill the cup with crushed ice. Pour ginger ale or club soda over the ice to fill the cup a little over 3/4’s full. Add a shot of rum and a half shot of blue curacao: stir it in for a colorfully cooling drink!
How to Make a Red Mojito
Red Mojito Ingredients
- About 20 fresh spearmint or peppermint leaves
- 1/4 tsp of raw sugar
- 1/2 of a lemon, squeezed
- Crushed ice
- 2 ounces of Ginger ale or club soda
- 2 ounces of cranberry juice
- 1 ounce of white rum
- Garnish: a few slices of strawberries, a slice or wedge of lemon, and some mint leaves
First, muddle the mint leaves and sugar together. Get that muddled mash into a tall cup. Then, squeeze the lemon on top. Next, fill the cup with crushed ice. Pour ginger ale or club soda over the ice, then add in the cranberry juice. Finally, give the drink a shot of rum and Oooh La La!
