petitgrain
Petitgrain comes from the leaves and branches of the orange tree, and has a fresh, green, clean aroma with a hint of citrus and bark. Its aroma has been studied to help reduce anxiety and insomnia, and improve cognition.
Like neroli, petitgrain comes from the orange tree. However, petitgrain essential oil comes from the leaves, while neroli oil is taken from the blossoms.
A small amount of scientific studies were found on petitgrain essential oil. One human study implied that the inhalation may help improve work performance. High in linalyl acetate and linalool, the essential oil may also have antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-cancer, wound healing, and anxiolytic potential. More research is needed.
